Department of Dermatology
The dermatology program at Penn State Milton S. Hershey Medical Center has a four-part mission:
- Educating medical students, physicians and the public about dermatology.
- Providing patients with the best dermatologic care available.
- Performing research into the causes and treatment of dermatologic diseases.
- Contributing to the community via service.
The department provides care for patients with all types of skin disorders. Dermatologic surgeons perform Mohs micrographic surgery, which involves microscopically controlled surgical removal of skin cancers. Detection, management and prevention of skin cancer, most notably malignant melanoma, is a top priority.
