Department of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation
The Department of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation at Penn State Health Milton S. Hershey Medical Center is known for:
- Complete rehabilitation care: Penn State Health offers the most comprehensive rehabilitation services in central Pennsylvania. The program provides intensive and acute (brief but severe) care, as well as transitional care from the hospital and into the patient’s home or a nursing facility.
- Accreditations and recognitions: The Joint Commission and CARF (Commission on Accreditation of Rehabilitation Facilities) have both recognized Penn State’s rehabilitation program as a Comprehensive Integrated Inpatient Rehabilitation Program (CIIRP) for both adults and children.
- Highly specialized team: The physical medicine team includes trained specialists who work together to deliver comprehensive care, including board-certified physiatrists and specialists, as well as nurses and therapists with advanced rehabilitation training.
